How my journey began
from Maine to Tennessee
From wreath decorating to coaching
Early Work Experience
My career began in Columbia Falls, Maine at 13, cleaning a house for a retired university professor from Boston. This was a job I kept until I moved to Nashville at the age of 18. While I cleaned her home, I also worked at Worcester Wreath during the holiday season decorating wreaths sold through LL Bean—my first official job with a time clock and paycheck. One summer during high school, I raked blueberries to pay for school clothes, working early mornings atop the blueberry barrens where the air is thin and heat is heavy. Bent over with a rake, making my way through each bush, collecting berries and dumping them in 5-gallon buckets at $2.50 a crate. Let me just say, you earned every penny.
Building My Career Path
Once I landed in Tennessee, I waited tables, tended bar, and worked as a hostess before becoming a trainer and helping with accounting. After three years, I transitioned to travel planning—a fun career with great discounts and commissions. As a certified travel associate, I planned honeymoons, weddings, and Disney trips.
After several years in travel, I moved to customer service at Dollar General Corporate, then transitioned to HR—my career path for the next 17 years in various key roles before launching my coaching practice in 2020.
My Passion for Coaching
Coaching was always my favorite part of HR. I loved partnering with employees to help them realize their potential and explore career paths that excited them. I also enjoyed working with leadership, providing tools and guidance on how to lead teams effectively and well.
